The overall project involves the proposed construction of 400 Housing Units, and an 8 Classroom Primary School on a 39 acre site at Portlaoise.

This section of the project involves the upgrading of the Orbital route as it traverses the M7 Portlaoise By-Pass.

The scope of works of this segment of the works includes route selection and preparation of Part VIII for 2.5km of roadway including 3 roundabouts and 2 major junctions.

This project involves the upgrade of a combination of 2.5km of existing rural road to be re-aligned to S2 standard a 0.6km section of new road on the eastern approach to S2 standard.

The project includes 3 roundabouts to reduce vehicle speeds and promote safer vehicular usage of a growing urban housing area whilst encouraging walking and cycling. The area will also benefit from the provision of bus bays.
