This project involved the provision of 16No. Apartmnets and 3No. Houses at Bluebell Road, Bluebell, Dublin 12. Hayes Higgins Partnership provided Mechanical and Electrical Consultancy Services for this project. The €3 million social housing development was officially opened by Lord Mayor Christy Burke and Alan Kelly, TD, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government. The 19 units at Grand Canal View were originally part of an integrated development project comprising a Community Centre, 16 x2 bedroom apartments and 3 x 3 bedroom houses. Unfortunately the Public Private Partnership failed prior to completion in 2010 and Dublin City Council contracted Purcell Construction Ltd. in January 2014 to carry out the unfinished works on the 19 residential units. The apartments are located in a 4-story block which, together with the 3 houses, forms an L-shaped configuration around a courtyard. In keeping with the Council’s bid to increase the use of solar energy, photovoltaic panels were been installed at the complex which will generate approximately one quarter of the power needs of the tenants. A small park and playground is situated across the road from Grand Canal View and tenants can enjoy a variety of activities available at Bluebell Youth and Community Centre, located beside the complex.
