Hayes Higgins Partnership are provided Building Services (M&E) Engineering Services for this building development project at Sacred Heart Nursing Home Castlebar. The project involved a 74 Bed extension to Sacred Heart Nursing Home Castlebar.

The project involved the following:

  • 80% Single Rooms in a new ward configuration for new and existing patients.  This is being achieved by extending / remodelling 3 existing wards (St. John’s/ St. Joseph’s and Our Lady’s) in a clustered development. All 3 No. new wards are being linked to the main existing circulation corridor in the building.

  • Upgrading / redesigning the existing central Kitchen to comply with EHO and HACCP food safety management system standards.

  • Upgrading / redesigning existing Laundry Rooms, all refurbishment / new works are EHO/ HIQA compliant.

This new extension will greatly enhances the delivery of health services in the town and the surrounding areas. The community nursing unit will allow the public to have easy access to an increased range of services based in the one location, close to home.
