This project involved the construction of a nursing home facility in Enniscorthy consisting of twenty-one sheltered apartments. HHP provided mechanical, electrical and lift design services for this building. These services included the design of a ventilation system, cold and mains water services, geothermal heat pumps served by vertical deep bore two pipe system to serve the LPHW pipework, underfloor heating, independent heating control, soils and waste, general electrical services, normal and emergency lighting installations, external lighting, nurses call centre, disabled refuge call system, fire detection and alarm system, security and CCTV system, lift services. Site services design such as ESB, Eircom / broadband and mains water.
The Primary method of heating and hot water in this facility is Geothermal Heat Pumps. HHP did a heating and hot water analysis of the building and decided to utilise this proven technology. This will result in a building that is comfortable for the end users and also is far more economical to run when compared to a facility that utilised traditional hydrocarbon fuels as the primary energy source.
In addition we have carried out detailed heat loss calculations and have specified insulation requirements that exceed the current building regulations by 40%.
