This project involved the building of a new 16 classroom Primary school on a green field site in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny.
The design of the school was a generic designed as adopted by the Department of Education and Science.
The main elements of the mechanical services installation included the following:
Oil fired Central Heating using weather compensation.
Fully automated building management system.
Hot, cold and Mains Water Services Installation
Soils and Waste Installation
The main elements of the electrical services installation included the following:
General Lighting and Emergency Lighting Installation. (The general lighting installation implemented intelligent lighting controls using proximity sensors and photocells.)
General Fire and Security Alarm Installation.
General containment tray and trunking installation.
All classrooms were fitted out with IT data cabling to facilitate network .
General Services Installation
External Lighting and CCTV monitoring system.
The school also had a new lift installation as part of the building services package.
Hayes Higgins Partnership was charged with implementing the generic Mechanical and Electrical design and tying the new school into the local utilities infrastructure.
