This project involved the building of a new 16 classroom Primary school on a green field site in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny.

The design of the school was a generic designed as adopted by the Department of Education and Science.

The main elements of the mechanical services installation included the following:

  • Oil fired Central Heating using weather compensation.

  • Fully automated building management system.

  • Hot, cold and Mains Water Services Installation

  • Soils and Waste Installation

 

The main elements of the electrical services installation included the following:

  • General Lighting and Emergency Lighting Installation. (The general lighting installation implemented intelligent lighting controls using proximity sensors and photocells.)

  • General Fire and Security Alarm Installation.

  • General containment tray and trunking installation.

  • All classrooms were fitted out with IT data cabling to facilitate network .

  • General Services Installation

  • External Lighting and CCTV monitoring system.

 

The school also had a new lift installation as part of the building services package.
