Hayes Higgins Partnership was appointed to act a Consulting Civil Structural Engineers in the design and construction of this Retail Park, 2 miles from Waterford City.

The Retail Park was procured as a Design and Build Contract and completed under a Fast Track Program in 8 months in Steel Frame.

This project forms part of the Ross Abbey a development of over 1,000 new homes, the first phase of which is currently underway.

Innovative: 

Hayes Higgins Partnership provided the following innovations to the project:

  1. Permeable pavements design and attenuation of stormwater.

  2. Provision of rainwater harvesting and water supply independent of mains.

  3. Sustainable re-use of temporary works materials for integration into permanent works.

  4. Inclusion of gross building movement joints to enable a cost effective solution for construction of foundation on different strata, assess long term settlement and provide a whole life cost comparison / risks to the client.
